Hein van Tonder has loved food as long as he can remember. The South African photographer, stylist and food writer is based in Cape Town where he splits his time between his kitchen and his studio. His work has been featured in many top magazines and websites including, and the Huffington Post. His recipes and photos have appeared n Marie Claire Cuisine et Vins, Taste and Food and Home Entertaining.

Hein van Tonder has also contributed to many books including, La Creuzette – The Story of a House published in 2016 by Quivertree Publications and the Cobb Recipe Book. Hein has also won many international prizes including finalist in two categories of the prestigious "Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year" competition in 2016.

He was also a finalist the Food Blogging category in 2015.His favourite pastime is travelling and eating. He plans his travels around the flavours, meals and restaurants that he wants to explore. Recent trips include Beirut and Copenhagen, where he discovered cuisines that rival his love for all things Italian. He works exclusively with natural light using his Nikon D750.
